Tainia is a genus of the orchid family (Orchidaceae), comprising of about 30 species.


Plants are found from India through China and S.E. Asia to Indonesia


Plants in this genus have long inflorescence with few flowers which have 8 pollinas. They are deciduous terrestrials.


Plants require shade and cool to warm temperature requirements depending on the species. Plants should be potted in a mix that retain some moisture such as gravel. Medium should be kept moist during growing season. Repotting should be done after flowering.


The name is derived from its long narrow leaves
