Stanhopea embreei was named after 20th century botanist Embre. It is an endemic to Ecuador.

Plants are found in cloud forest of western Ecuador at elevations of 500 to 1000 meters.
Description[]
Plants blooms from spring to early summer with three to eight 8 cm wide fragrant flowers.
Culture[]
Plant should be grown in shade. Keep in cool to warm temperatures and water regularly. Pot in medium fir bark or sphagnum moss. Keep humidity high. Plants are usually grown in baskets.
