Plants in this genus are found from Costa Rica to Venezuela and Peru


Plants in this genus has flowers where the lateral sepals unite and form a helmut shape figure. Species are differentiated by their lip structure.


Plants are usually grown in wooden baskets in partial shade. Use a well drain potting media such as medium fir bark with perlite, tree fern fibers, or sphagnum moss. Keep area humid and grow in cool to intermediate temperatures. Keep mix moist but not dry.


The genus is named after Louis Schlim orchid collector in South America
