Prosthechea vitellina is an epiphytic orchid in the genus Prosthechea.


Plant flowers from spring to fall with three to twelve 3 cm wide flowers.


Plant is found in oak and pine trees in the cloud forest of in Honduras, Mexico and Nicaragua at elevations of 1400 to 2600 meters.


Plant is best grown in a well drain mix or mounted. Keep in partial shade and water when media dries out. Do not overwater. Keep in cool temperatures - P. vitellina is the coolest growing one of the genus. Glasshouse culture is prefferable.
