Prosthechea cochleata is an epiphytic orchid from the genus Prosthechea

Description[]

Plant can bloom at anytime of the year with several 8.75 cm wide flowers. People have been known to eat the cooked psuedobulbs.

Distribution[]

Plant is found in the evergreen and deciduous forest of Florida, USA to north coast of South America at elevations to 1900 meters.

Culture[]

Plants grow in intermediate to warm conditions and can be grown in medium size fir bark with perlite. Plant prefers drying periods between watering and bright light is recommended. Lengthen drying period a bit in the winter.
