Prosthechea abbreviata is an epiphytic orchid from the genus Prosthechea.


Plant blooms from spring to summer with two to four 2.5 cm wide flowers.


Plant is found growing in Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru at elevations of 100 to 1400 meters


Plants grow in warm conditions and can be grown in medium size fir bark with perlite. Plant prefers drying periods between watering and bright light is recommended. Lengthen drying period a bit in the winter.
