The plant blooms from summer and winter with a single 7 cm wide flower.

The plant is found growing on mossy trees, humus, and in soil in Garaina, Kui, and Kar Kar Islands of Papua New Guinea at elevations of 180 to 1000 meters. The area is always wet with frequent rains in the summer and heavy rains in the winter.

Keep the plant in moderately bright light to partial shade. Plant should be grown in a intermediate to warm area. Pot in medium fir bark and perlite. Paphiopedilum violascens is sensitive to salt buildup in its potting media. To induce blooming briefly reduce watering between seasons.
