Plants are found growing on limestone cliffs in cracks with leaf litter in Sumatra and Indonesia at elevations of 760 to 1600 meters. The area is subjected to frequent rains from summer to fall and heavy rains from winter to spring.

Plant should be grown in areas with moderately bright light and intermediate to warm temperatures. Pot in a well drain mix such as medium fir bark and perlite. Species can tolerate many different conditions. Water regularly about every four to five days. To induce blooming reduce temperature and watering in the winter.
