Plant blooms in fall and spring with three to five 6.5 cm wide flowers.

Plants are found on high tree crowns in lower montane forest of Costa Rica and Panama at elevations of 1000 to 2000 meters

Plants are grown in moderate light with intermediate to warm temperatures. They require a humidity range of 50 to 90%. During hot summers water the plant daily. As winter approaches, keep the plant media moist but not damp. In the winter reduce watering but do not let the mix dryout. Pot the plant in a well drain mix such as fine fir bark with perlite.
