Microcoelia abbreviated as Mcrcoel in horticultural trade, is a genus of orchids (family Orchidaceae) of the Caribbean Sea comprising about 17 species


Plants are found in Madagascar and tropical Africa.


Plants in this genus has no leave and depend on photosynthetic roots.


Grow in moderate light and with cool to warm temperatures. Plant is grown mounted on cork or tree fern fibers. Roots must be exposed to light to perform photosynthesis. Water regularly during growing season in the summer and reduce watering during the winter. Plant prefers high humidity.


The plant is named after its sphere-like spur.
