Masdevallia ayabacana is a species in the Masdevallia genus.


Plant blooms in the spring and fall with a single 3 cm wide flower.

This species was first cultivated by J&L Orchids who flowered it on August 28, 1976


Plant is found growing in the cool montane rain forest of Peru at elevations around 1200 to 1800 meters.


Keep plant in partial shade. Plant can be grown in intermediate to warm conditions. Pot the plant in fine bark with perlite or sphagnum moss. Water regularly and keep potting media moist.


Entomology: The plant is named after the region where it was discovered.
