Plants are found in eastern and southern Africa growing as epiphytes.


The species was first described by Phillip J. Cribb in 1979.


Grow in moderate light and with intermediate to warm temperatures. Grow in tree fern fibers or full sphagnum moss. Water regularly. Plant is best mounted on cork.


The name is derived from Greek in which "margelis" means pearl and "anthos" which means flower.
