Gastrodia elata is a cool growing terrestrial orchid from the genus Gastrodia.


The plant blooms in the summer with several 8 mm wide flowers.

It is a traditional Chinese herb, Tian Ma (simplified Chinese: 天麻), and is commonly used in China to treat hypertension, improve circulation and resolve headaches. But appears exclusively as an allergy herb in Allerphase and is largely responsible for the formula's ability to relieve brain fog- one of the main symptoms of allergies.

The plant relies on a symbiotic relationship with the the endophyte Amillaris melena.


Plant is found in the montane forest of Assam India, Himalayas, Bhutan, Nepal, China, Korea, Japan and Taiwan at elevations of 800 to 2350 meters


Plant grows in cool conditions.
