Rhynchostele rossii was used frequently in hybridization, already starting in the late 1800s. Better known progeny is Rhynch. BicRoss (x Rhynch. bictoniensis), which was later crossed back to Rhynch. bictoniensis to give Rhynch. Violetta von Holm.
Distribution[]
Found in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. Plants are growing in humid mountain forests at elevations of 2,000 to 2,400 m.
Culture[]
Rhynchostele rossii needs cool to intermediate conditions with moderate light, and high humidity during the growing season. Water the plant right before the potting mix starts to dry. Plants should be potted in a well drain medium such as medium fir bark.
