Epidendrum summerhayesii

Epidendrum summerhayesii is an epiphytic orchid in the genus Epidendrum.

Description

Plant blooms at any season with four to ten 2.5 cm wide flowers. Flowers are fragrant.

Distribution

Plant is found growing in the montane forest of Costa Rica and Panama at elevations of 1200 to 1800 meters

Culture

Plants grow in cool to warm conditions and can be grown in medium size fir bark with perlite. Plant prefers drying periods between watering and bright light is recommended. Lengthen drying period a bit in the winter. Plant can remain dormant for two years after collecting date before response in cultivation.
