Plants are found growing on slopes near swamps, on the edge of streams and gravel beds in the coniferous forest of Qubec, Ontario, Yukon, and from Manitoba to British Colombia provinces of Canada and the states of Montana and Alaska in the United States of America.
Culture

Grow plant in bright light and in cool temperature during the summer. Water regularly in the summer and keep mix moist but not wet. In the winter reduce watering. Plant should be grown in a mix with pH around 6 to 7. Plants can be potted in full gravel, full lava rock, or 25% perlite, 25% fine bark, and 50% gravel. To promote blooming increase the day length. Plant requires a long undisturbed dormancy during the winter.
