Cymbidium chloranthum is a species of Cymbidium is found in asia.


Plant flowers in the summer with five to thirty 5 cm flowers. The flowers are slightly fragrant.[1]

This species was first described by Lindley from a plant that almost finished flowering collected by J.D. Hooker in Sikkim.[1] Rechembach gave an more detialed description in 1879 from fresh flowers provided from a plant in the Messrs Low nursery which was collected by Boxall in Burma.[1]


Plant is found growing in valleys and on forest floor in Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo and Java at elevations of 300 to 1500 meters. The plant is also found in Taiwan, China at elevations of 300 to 1000 meters.[1]


Plant should be grown in warm areas with medium to bright light. Pot with bark and perlite. Plant prefers dry periods between watering. Reduce watering during the winter. Water about once a week.
