Corallorhiza trifida is a species in the genus Corallorrhiza. It is a cool growing saprophytic orcid.
Description[]
Plant has no leaves (apart from a few scale leaves on the stem) and remains dormant most of the year. Plant blooms from early summer with up to twelve 1 cm wide greenish-yellow flowers on each spike. The plant grows to about 15–20 cm (rarely to 30 cm) tall.
Distribution[]
Corallorhiza trifida has a circum-boreal distribution, found around ditches, swamps, and wet woodland areas from Russia, northern and eastern Europe to Turkey, and in the northern United States and Canada, from 0 to around 600 m elevation. In Britain, it is confined to the north, in Scotland and northernmost England.
