Chysis laevis is a species in the genus Chysis.
Description[]
Plant blooms from spring to summer with five to ten pendant flowers. Flowers are 4.1 cm wide and fragrant It is distinguishable from Chysis tricostata as it has five raised white ridges on the labellum.
Distribution[]
Plant is found growing in the cloud forest of Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama at elevations of 0 to 1700 meters
Culture[]
The plants should be in moderate light and intermediate temperatures. The plants can be potted in a well drain mix such as coconut husk or tree fern fibers or mounted. The plants should be watered and fed heavily while they are in active growth, and watering should be reduced during the winter during the resting period. They should never be allowed to completely dry out, however, even during the rest period, and the pseudobulbs should never be seen to shrivel.
