Cattleya dowiana is a plant in the genus Cattleya.


Plant blooms from summer to fall with five to six 15 cm wide flowers. Flowers are fragrant with a spicy scent.

The plant is similar to Cattleya aurea which has larger flowers with more intense coloration


Plant is found growing in Costa Rica and Panama at elevations of 250 to 2500 meters


Plants should be grown in medium fir bark with partial to full sun. Cattleya aurea is a intermediate to warm growing orchid species. Water approximately once a week. Plant can also be mounted.


Cattleya dowiana rosita Cattleya dowiana var. rosita Sepals are yellow and petals are pink. Lip is magenta with yellow veins
