Burrageara abbreviated Burr. is a hybrid that consist of 4 species: Cochlioda, Miltonia, Odontoglossum and Oncidium.
Description[]
Burrageara is most often created by hybridizing Vuylstekeara with Oncidium. Well known examples of Burragearas are Burr. Living Fire, Burr. Stefan Isler, Burr. Kilauea and Burr. Dee Luce. But surely the best known and currently most widespread Burrageara is Burr. Nelly Isler.(a scented Orchid)
Culture[]
Grow plants in intermediate temperatures in partial shade, if possibly with high humidity. Water plant when mix drys, but do not allow to dry out completely. Plant will flower when the new bulbs have formed. After flowering, give plants a slight dryout between waterings for 2 - 4 weeks, and increase watering once the new growth starts. Water approximately once a week. Pot with medium fir bark.
Naming[]
Burrageara was named in 1927 after Albert Cameron Burrage, a trustee of the American Orchid Society and a keen orchid grower in the beginning of orchid cultiviation in the US.
